Day 6 on Rte. 66 - Dwight to Pontiac, IL

I was pleased with my planned starting point, but the day still took longer than anticipated.  I got to the hotel at 7:30 pm so it was a long day.

The mural shown is in Pontiac, MI and is a real set up for photo ops.  So why not??  The museum was less than spectacular unless you like looking at the knick-knacks your grandmother used to collect.  The Pontiac automobile museum was somewhat the same.  All the various vintage classics, but not much different than you could see at a car show.  But you have to look, right?  The other pix are of the Pontiac Courthouse and a high-boy Model A coupe (note bird on head light).

On the way to Springfield, I was determined to stay on 66 and was mostly successful.  Sometimes you would be directly parallel to the Interstate (I-55) but other times you would go through villages rather than pass them by.  So I saw things that would be missed from the interstate.  A post will summarize some of those detours.
