Day 5 ends in Davenport, IA
Long day again. Figured about 450 miles in 10 hours. With frequent stops for leg stretching. It helped that most Iowa rest stops had indoor lounge areas with Wi-Fi and outdoor walking paths with informative historic signs.
While Iowa City was my target, I decided to go another hour to Davenport to give me more leisure tomorrow. I might even go upstream from Pontiac on 66 to extend it a bit.
Landed arbitrarily near a steak house, so treated myself to a small rib-eye, after skipping dinner last night.
Tune of the day: Traveling Wilbury's - End of the Line and I hummed Bob Seger's Turn the Page "on a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha" I have his songs on a flash drive somewhere, but didnt want to stop to look.
Tomorrow it's time for Route 66 to begin! Hopefully some better photo ops!

ReplyDeleteAmen! I think you've posted this same picture 6 times. Hood of your truck. Road in front of it. Clouds above it.
Only difference will be the road will have a 66 on it! I am missing a photographer. Remember old people should not be taking photos while driving!
ReplyDeleteI am picking up a photographer in a few days who will take it to another level!
So much fun to follow along makes me sorta wish I was with you.(not) Mike
ReplyDeleteWhere are the Mountains and fishing rivers? Mike
